Hello lovely readers! A few weeks back I made a post called Motivational Monday where I talked to you about my decision to #bebold this year, what does this have to do with Cancún? Well, everything! Just the day before I got invited to go, I had come to the decision that I wasn’t going to save up money for a new car anymore (sadly my car is a piece of junk...) I was going to use my savings to travel. This decision to use my savings for travel was my bold move. You see, I get terrible travel anxiety but for a few years now I have dreamt of traveling the world. Well, the next day I agreed to go to Cancun and booked my ticket. And I don’t regret it for a second! 

¡Hola queridos lectores! Algunas semanas atrás hice un post titulado Motivational Monday donde les hable sobre mi decision der ser #bebold este año, que tiene que ver esto con Cancún? Bueno, todo! El día antes de que fui invitada para ir, vine a la decisión de que ya no iba a salvar dinero para un nuevo auto (tristemente mi carro es un pedaso de miedra...) iba a usar mis ahorros para viajar. Esta decisión de usar mis ahorros para viajar fue mi decisión atrevida o #bebold. Porque tengo terrible ansiedad de viajar pero por unos años ya, he soñado de viajar por el mundo. El próximo día acepte ir a Cancún y compre mi boleto. ¡Y no lo lamento por un momento!

Get Ready With Me | My Sister's Sweet 16, Quinceañera!

Hello everyone!! I’m really excited to be able to FINALLY, share this video and post with you! This video has been almost a whole month in the making, and I’m not joking… at all. YouTube took many weeks to upload and I had to reupload many times. Well enough complaining. Here is how I got ready for My Sister’s Sweet 16, Quinceañera!

Este video ha durado casi todo un mes para editar, y no estoy exagerando… YouTube tomo muchas semanas para subirlo y tuve que tratar un montón de veces. Pero ya me queje mucho. Ahora les voy a mostrar como me arregle para la ¡Sweet 16, Quinceañera de mi hermana!

My Sister's Sweet 16, Quinceañera style!

September 6th was my sister Amie’s Sweet 16! Although it was her Sweet 16, we celebrated it as a Quinceañera. A Quinceañera is a coming of age party thrown when a girl turns 15 and is celebrated in many latin american cultures. If you would like to learn more about this tradition click here.     The whole celebration was wonderful, from the religious ceremony to the celebration afterwards. We had wanted to throw my sister a big Quinceanera last year when she turned 15 but did not have the means. That is why this year she got a Quince/Sweet 16 because she turned 16… LOL.

Today I bring you tips for Quinceañera or Sweet Sixteen DIY photography!!

         But first...

   

What is a quinceañera? Like a sweet sixteen a quinceañera is a coming of age party. However, a quinceañera is celebrated in latin american countries or by people with a latin heritage when a girl turns 15. It also seems to be a greater occasion than a sweet sixteen. I say this because for a quinceañera, unlike a sweet sixteen, a hall or other type of venue is rented, their will be live music, dj and even a church ceremony. Nonetheless, every country has its own unique way of celebrating a quince. The quinceañera I’m describing is of Mexican/Mexican American tradition.  

There is technically no “Quinceañera” season per se, like a wedding season. (at least that I know of…) This is because a quinceañera is given to a girl when she turns 15. She will usually have a court of “damas” and “caballeros.” Girls and boys her own age who will accompany her on her big day. They will usually do a waltz with her and more recently even a second surprise dance. The surprise dance can be of any type of music!

Día de los muertos/Day of the Dead

 

 

Hello everybody, so today is November 2, which is Día de los muertos/Day of the Dead in Mexican culture.  (November 1 is for children who have passed and the 2 is for adults) For Día de los muertos it is tradition to go to the cemetery at night and decorate the graves of your family. You also take food for yourself and the dead. There is music and children go as well. All though I live in the United States, my family and others still maintain this tradition which I really love.

Hola todos, hoy es noviembre 2, el Día de los muertos en la cultura Mexicana. (Noviembre 1 se celebra los niños que han muerto y el 2 los adultos) Para el Día de los muertos es tradición ir al cementerio en la noche y decorar las tumbas de tus familiares. También llevas comida para ti y los muertos.  Hay música y van los niños también. Aun que vivo en los estados unidos, mi familia todavía mantiene esta tradición, cosa que me encanta.
